Tintin and the Calculus Affair
PDF | 15.49 MB | English

The Calculus Affair (French: L'Affaire Tournesol) is the eighteenth of The Adventures of Tintin, a series of classic comic-strip albums, written and illustrated by Belgian writer and illustrator Hergé, featuring young reporter Tintin as a hero.

Some, such as Benoit Peeters in his book Tintin and the World of Hergé, have labeled this as the greatest of the series.

Sudhir......Sachin's Biggest fan

Sudhir......Sachin's Biggest  fan

Sudhir   is not ordinary cricket fan. His love for Tendulkar has him cycle all the way to match venues his trips include one to Lahore too from his home in Muzaffarpur.

He is famous for showing up at every home match the indian  team plays with his entire body painted in the national colours.

Sachin Tendulkar provides him tickets for  Indian  matches.

By April 2010 he has attended nearly 150 live cricket matches .

The love for the game reflects on his face, painted in the tricolour and an Indian flag drawn on his tonsured head.

He travel from one match venue to another  on his  bicycle and use the train only if necessary.

Career avenues with growth potential

Before selecting a course, first understand if the sector will still have a demand for new entrants when you graduate
Post-HSC, it is extremely important to take course decisions with an eye on the future. After all, your selection needs to be based on not just what the industry requires today, but what it will need the day after tomorrow. For students, this is an opportunity to skip plain vanilla courses and tread a new path, looking forward to enhanced industry relevant courses.
Understand that the job market will follow cyclic phenomena. There are some segments, which will take leaps and bounds, while others will pursue a slower growth path. The entire market is undergoing a shift, things are changing; it's all about getting ready now for the future that awaits you.
Let's look at some of the options available for each stream:
For those who have just completed their HSC (Arts), there is a host of vocational alternatives to choose from. In addition to the bachelor's degree in Arts (BA) with specialisation in subjects like history, geography, political science, sociology, psychology, economics, Hindi, Sanskrit, etc., there are several other alternatives.
There is a professional degree course for those who want to enter the media industry - the Bachelor of Mass Media (BMM). For those wanting to be a part of the ever-expanding hospitality industry a Bachelor of Hospitality Management (BHM) would be the right pick. A degree course helps create a base for a secured future.
Signing up for a certificate or diploma courses along with regular studies will help in building up a good portfolio. For Arts students there is no dearth of career and course options to select from.
If you are not the one to take the conventional part of graduating in a degree course, then you can tread the path of vocational courses. Keeping in mind the popularity and expansion of skill-based industries like animation, fashion, jewellery designing and filmmaking many institutes offer a host of specialised courses. There are also three to nine months training courses in acting, editing and film-direction. If you are not testing the waters and are sure of making a career in animation then there are also degree courses in animation. Diploma courses that offer theoretical and practical training in beauty and hair styling are also offered by several institutes. While most science students do aspire for engineering or medicine, there are also options off the beaten track. For many students the option of medicine has been replaced by related courses such as dentistry, physiotherapy, pharmacy and occupational therapy. In addition to diplomas in agriculture/ horticulture sciences, a range of diplomas in paramedical sciences are also available. Drug designing is also becoming a very popular choice for science students. Though pharmacy is not a developed sector in India, it is in great demand abroad. Also there are many colleges within the city offering seats for a pharmacy course as compared to MBBS seats. Moreover some colleges also offer integrated courses. Students who have opted for PCM, or PCB, or both, can go for Bachelors in Pharmacy.
Another field gaining popularity is therapy studies - physical therapy and occupational therapy are the two that are seeing a rise. The former involves treating patients with muscular, neurological disorders, the physically challenged and sportsmen, occupational therapy on the other hand works on restoring normal functions to physically challenged or disabled. Students who aspire to be physiotherapists or occupational therapists need a BSc degree in Physiotherapy (BScPT) or BSc in Occupational Therapy (BSc OT); those wanting a nursing degree will need a BSc in Nursing. A diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) is also an option because there is a great demand for nursing specialists in India as well as abroad. With the growth of multi-speciality hospital brands and even government healthcare systems improving the demand for quality nurses has accelerated. This is not the scene only in India; but also in the gulf countries, UK, Ireland and even the US there is a shortage of nurses. The US Bureau of Labor Statistics has projected the need of 1 million new and replacement nurses by 2016
One can take up a course like BSc in nursing after completing class XII science. For those students who are unable to pursue a BSc, they can opt for a post basic BSc Nursing and community health nursing diploma which is offered by some colleges. The options for students do not end with just a BSc degree. There are courses that allow students to pick specialisations and super specialisations after completing a degree course. An MSc course allows students to pursue specialisations like critical care nursing, oncology nursing, cardio vascular and thoracic nursing, neonatal nursing, operation room technique, obstetric nursing, mental health nursing and community health nursing. Also, with an increasing medical facilities, polyclinics, diagnostic centres and hospitals; like nursing there has been a spurt in the need for paramedical professionals as well. The field comprises of support staff technicians who work as dental mechanics, emergency medical technicians, safety engineers, radiographers, X-ray technologists, etc. Fire engineering can be defined as the art and science of designing buildings and facilities for life safety and property protection in the event of an uncontrolled fire. This includes the application of scientific and engineering principles, based on an understanding the phenomena and effects of fire and of reaction and behaviour of people, property and the environment as well as the impact of fire protection systems including detection, alarm and sprinkler systems.
To get there: Fire engineering is a very dangerous profession which requires a strong sense of commitment to public service. The role of fire engineers span engineering design to operations and management. A diploma course is offered by many other institutes across India, for which the eligibility is HSC with PCM as optional subjects. For commerce students, in recent years, colleges have been offering the BCom degree with niche specialisations covering the finance and commerce industry. Students also have the option of pursuing a number of professional courses while pursuing the three-year degree course. One can study actuarial sciences along with a BCom in Banking and Insurance, BCom in Accountancy company secretary and a Certified Financial Planner (CFP) programme for those studying BCom in Financial Markets. The Bachelor of Management Studies course has been especially designed to create middle cadre management personnel. Bachelor of Media Management is designed to provide students with grounding in communication skills. The focus of BMM is to develop ability for critical thinking and creativity and to give the students an opportunity to combine the theoretical curriculum with practical applications, through research, writing skills, oral presentation skills and a mastery of various mass communications media.
