After Gujarat, Karnataka likely to introduce Bhagavad Gita in school syllabus

Recently, the government of Gujarat took the decision to add Bhagavad Gita in the syllabus.

After Gujarat, the ruling BJP government in Karnataka is all set to introduce Bhagavad Gita in the school syllabus.

According to sources, the education department, though giving diplomatic statements in this regard, is preparing to teach the Bhagavad Gita, the holy Hindu scripture to students under the moral science subject.

However, Congress has maintained that the present syllabus has been prepared by resourceful persons and there is no need to include anything now.

Education Minister B.C. Nagesh reacting to the issue on Friday said that a decision will be taken on mandating the teachings of Bhagavad Gita to school children under moral science subject after the consultation of Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai.

Minister Nagesh stated that the demand is growing for the inclusion of moral science into the syllabus of children as it has a good impact. In Gujarat, they are planning to implement it in three phases. In the first phase they have introduced the Bhagavad Gita, he said.

"I will discuss with C.M Bommai in the coming days for implementation of the moral science subject in the syllabus for school children," he said.

He further added, "The moral science classes were held once a week when we studied in school. In the coming days, we will see whether this could be adopted in the state syllabus."

"If everything is agreed upon, we will consult education experts and decide on the aspects and syllabus of the moral science subject. The duration of the class will also be fixed. Why Bhagavad Gita should not be taught to the children?" Minister Nagesh questioned.

Former Union Minister for External Affairs S.M. Krishna used to say that he reads Bhagavad Gita every day and that gives him strength. In this country, all tall leaders, elders who have thought about the nation have talked highly about Bhagavad Gita. "Whether we introduce Bhagavad Gita, the education experts should tell us. They might suggest Bhagavad Gita, Ramayan, moral stories or they might also recommend a few portions of Quran and Bible, he explained.

"When you ask someone how a well-cultured society can take shape in the absence of schools and universities from the times immemorial in the country? The elders say that they read or heard about Ramayan, Mahabharath and Bhagavad Gita," he said.

Mahatma Gandhi, in his autobiography, has written that his mother`s teachings on Ramayana and Mahabharath during his childhood days helped him to evolve as a truthful person. He also said that Satya Harishchandra's enactment also influenced him to be truthful, Minister Nagesh explained.

Minister for Large and Medium Industries Murugesh Nirani stated that Bhagavad Gita has human values and children need to learn about those values. The government of Gujarat has taken a decision to add Bhagavad Gita in the syllabus and a decision should be taken in Karnataka also to introduce Bhagavad Gita to children, he said.

BJP senior leader M.P. Renukacharya stated that he would welcome the decision to include Bhagavad Gita in the syllabus. Young BJP MLA Kudachi Rajiv stated that he has been reading Bhagavad Gita for 10 years and it is one of the best pieces of literature available in the world.

D.K. Shivakumar, State Congress President has stated that there are lessons on Ramayan, Bhagavad Gita and other religious holy books in the syllabus. There is no necessity to glorify anything now, he opined.

"I have opposed the National Education Policy (NEP) in the beginning. The present syllabus includes everything. There is no necessity to include anything new to it. There is nothing left for BJP to take credit for the issue. Our Late Chief Minister Kengal Hanumanthaiah had distributed copies of the Bhagavad Gita for Rs 2 earlier," he said.

Five things to remember while doing digital payments through UPI

The number of cyber crimes in India has increased in the last few years.

From paying bills to booking a ticket, we all generally use UPI app, net banking in today’s world.

Not just that, we also transfer or receive money through these modes which make our lives easy and save our time a lot.

While digital payment modes have been a boon, cyber crimes are constantly increasing.

And fraudsters are looking at new ways to steal your money. The number of cyber crimes in India has increased rapidly in the last few years.

So, here are the things you should do to keep yourself safe from fraud while doing UPI payments.

1. Keep your UPI app update

In order to keep yourself safe from cyber criminals, you should update your UPI app from time to time. With every update, companies give new features to enhance cyber security. In such a situation, always keep the UPI app updated.

2. Never Enter PIN for receiving payments

In any UPI app, no user is required to enter his/her PIN to receive money. So, be careful if someone is asking you to put your PIN while sending you money.

3. Beware of Fraud Calls

Cyber criminals do not just try to steal people’s money by sending links to them, but they also directly call users and ask them about their passwords, PINs etc.

Remember, banks do not ask for such details over calls. So, you should not fall into the trap of any such call.

4. Do not put PIN on any kind of link or request

These days, people receive tempting offers on mail and WhatsApp, especially during a festival season. Such links ask you to enter your PIN and other details to get the ‘prize’ or ‘cashback’. So, one should be cautious of such links and should not open them.

5. Create Strong Password

Set a strong PIN while registering for UPI service. Create a PIN that no one can guess easily. UPI PIN generally consists of four or six digits.

Pipara & Co LLP paving monumental legacy for next generation CA firms

Instead of counting on those laurels, taking a step ahead in the last decade is the second generation of Pipara, Mr. Namann

What C.A. Gyan C. Pipara didn’t know while laying the foundation of his firm four decades back was that he was going to script a success story that would someday pave way for a monumental legacy ahead for the next-generation Chartered Accountant firms.

With more than 40 years of experience at the helm of Pipara & Co. LLP, his insights into the Accounting-Audit domain, especially the ability to analyse financial statements from different angles is considered legendary. He has served on-board of the State Bank of Saurashtra and State Bank of Travancore (both now merged with SBI). He is also a regular speaker on various subjects of Fraud, Investigation, Bank Audits, Balance Sheet Analysis etc. He has to his credit 2 highly sought-after books published by the reputed Taxmann namely, ‘Balance Sheet Decoded’ and ‘Forensic Audit Decoded’, that are considered quite highly amongst the C.A. fraternity.

Instead of counting on those laurels, taking a step ahead in the last decade is the second generation of Pipara, Mr. Namann who had started scaling up the firm into Forensic Audit in the last few years. The firm made in-roads when SEBI released a press note in Oct-2018 to on-board firms for Forensic Audit, of which Pipara & Co. LLP had amazingly made it to the prestigious panel. From there onwards leveraging that expertise and experience, Pipara & Co. LLP got enrolled with CBI, Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO), NHB, etc. with a mission to uncover the lid on all serious financial frauds.

With all larger financial-lending institutions scrambling to hire the best suited Forensic Audit experts, Pipara & Co. LLP fits the job precisely well. As per Namann Pipara, Partner at Pipara & Co LLP, “By the time I had joined our firm, my father had already established a strong foothold but I was little lesser inclined to rest on those accolades. I wanted to take this level-up as I knew that with the quick advent of FinTech companies, the next generation challenges will be far higher than the regular Accounting & Auditing. So, I started making a conscious effort to take an active plunge into the Forensic Audit space. Under Shri G. C. Pipara’s mentorship, today we are considered to be one of those rare emerging players who could stand up to Big 4 in this domain.”

Also, on their platter is pan-India expansion beyond the current offices at Ahmedabad, Mumbai and Delhi that hosts more than 200+ staff. In fact, they just took a baby step to go global after registering their entity in the U.S.A. It seems they are on a roll ensuring raised benchmarks for the next generation C.A. firms to look up to. Exemplary role model indeed!

‘Stars are aligning’: NASA’s stunning image of bright star goes viral, mesmerises netizens

– SEE PICS

NASA has posted an image of a stunning star which has gone viral on Instagram, with netizens swooning over its beauty.

One always tends to get curious about outer space from time to time, as it contains a wide range of beautiful but mostly unknown wonders, spread across the expanded universe. Currently, it is impossible for humans to know the entirety of the universe.

Though there is much unknown about outer space, space agencies across the world act as a spectacle between us and the vast galaxy. The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) often posts photos and clips of certain phenomena from outer space.

An image that NASA posted on Instagram has caught a lot of traction on social media, with the photos now going viral. NASA posted the image of a bright star, which shone with vibrancy, and absolutely mesmerized the netizens.

In the post uploaded by NASA, the caption reads, “The stars are aligning…so to speak!” The photo shows a star shining bright with its yellow-orange rays spreading against the black backdrop of the galaxy, surrounded by many smaller stars.

Explaining the phenomena, NASA wrote, “On March 11, the NASA Webb Space Telescope team fully aligned the observatory’s mirrors with its primary imager, keeping its optics on track to meet or exceed science goals.”

“We now know we have built the right telescope,” said Ritva Keski-Kuha, deputy optical telescope element manager for Webb at NASA Goddard. First science images are expected in about three months.

While explaining what is happening in the image, NASA further wrote, “While the purpose of this image was to focus on the bright star at the center for alignment evaluation, Webb's optics and NIRCam imager are so sensitive that the galaxies and stars seen in the background show up.”

The space agency further explained, “Each of the primary mirror segments has been adjusted to produce one unified image of the same star using only the NIRCam instrument. A red filter was used to enhance visual contrast.”

Netizens were left swooning over the image, while many commented about the “brilliance” of the glow of the star. One user also called the photo “so gorgeous” while another said that it looks like “an early Diwali.”

On March 11, the @NASAWebb Space Telescope team fully aligned the observatory’s mirrors with its primary imager, keeping its optics on track to meet or exceed science goals. “We now know we have built the right telescope,” said Ritva Keski-Kuha, deputy optical telescope element manager for Webb at @NASAGoddard. First science images are expected in about three months.

So what do we see here? While the purpose of this image was to focus on the bright star at the center for alignment evaluation, Webb's optics and NIRCam imager are so sensitive that the galaxies and stars seen in the background show up. Each of the primary mirror segments have been adjusted to produce one unified image of the same star using only the NIRCam instrument. A red filter was used to enhance visual contrast. The next image shows a new “selfie,” created using a special lens inside of NIRCam. The lens is strictly for engineering purposes.

Once fully operational, Webb will help solve mysteries in our solar system, look beyond to distant worlds around other stars, and probe the mysterious structures and origins of our universe and our place in it. Webb is an international program in collaboration with the @EuropeanSpaceAgency and the @CanadianSpaceAgency.

Apple headquarters in California evacuated after mysterious white powder found in envelope

The largest Apple office was evacuated by the authorities after an unidentified white powder was found in an envelope.

The Apple office in Cupertino, California had to be partially evacuated after an envelope filled with an unidentified white powder was found on the premises, giving rise to the fear of a chemical attack on the company, according to reports.

Apple Park, which is the largest office of the tech company, located in Silicon Valley, was partially evacuated on Tuesday after a suspicious substance was found on the premises by first responders, Santa Clara County Fire Department Capt. Justin Stockman said to NBC news.

It is not yet known what the white substance in the envelope was, but the nature of the incident resembled an anthrax attack, which can spread fast and can be fatal in nature if not treated in due time.

According to media reports, the operations in the Apple headquarters have gone back to normal since then, as the company informed in an email that there was no presence of any hazardous materials on the premises, according to the authorities.

Apple has not yet publically commented on the incident, but as per media reports, the mysterious white powder in the envelope was harmless. Earlier, it was being perceived that it could be an anthrax attack, which has taken place in the US several times.

The most notable anthrax attack in the United States was the series of incidents that took place right after the 9/11 terrorist attacks, during which letters containing the bacteria were mailed to many media offices, killing as many as 5 people and infecting 17.

Under federal law in the US, people who fabricate a terrorist attack to incite panic among people can get prison time, even if it is a hoax. Investigations into the incident are still underway and authorities are trying to find how the envelope entered the Apple office.

Russia-Ukraine war: Zelenskyy appeals to US Congress, 'We need you right now'

In urging a steeper economic hit to the Russians, Ukrainian President Zelenskyy said: “Peace is more important than income”.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy cited Pearl Harbor and the Sept. 11 terror attacks on Wednesday as he appealed to the US Congress to do more to help Ukraine's fight against Russia, but acknowledged the no-fly zone he has sought to ‘close the sky’ over his country may not happen. Livestreamed into the Capitol complex, Zelenskyy said the US must sanction Russian lawmakers and block imports. He showed a packed auditorium of lawmakers a graphic video of the destruction and devastation his country has suffered in the war, along with heartbreaking scenes of civilian casualties.

“We need you right now,” Zelenskyy said, adding, “I call on you to do more”. In urging a steeper economic hit to the Russians, he said: “Peace is more important than income”. Lawmakers gave him a standing ovation, before and after his short remarks, which Zelenskyy began in Ukrainian through an interpreter but then switched to English in a heartfelt appeal to help end the bloodshed. “I see no sense in life if it cannot stop the deaths,” he told them.

Wearing a short-sleeved army T-shirt, Zelinskyy began his remarks by invoking the destruction the US suffered in 1941 when Japan bombed the naval base at Pearl Harbor in Honolulu, Hawaii, and the 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon by militants who commandeered passenger airplanes to crash into the symbols of Western democracy and economy.

“Remember Pearl Harbor? Remember September 11?”Zelenzkyy asked. “Our countries experience the same every day right now”. Nearing the three-week mark in an ever-escalating war, Zelenskyy has been imploring allied leaders to stop the Russian airstrikes. President Joe Biden's administration has stopped short of providing a no-fly zone or the transfer of military jets from neighbouring Poland as the US seeks to avoid a direct confrontation with Russia.

Biden is set to deliver his own address following Zelenskyy's speech, in which he is expected to announce an additional $800 million in security assistance to Ukraine, according to a White House official. That would bring the total announced in the last week alone to $1 billion. It includes money for anti-armor and air-defense weapons, according to the official, who was not authorized to comment publicly and spoke on the condition of anonymity.

Zelenskyy has emerged as a heroic figure at the center of what many view as the biggest security threat to Europe since World War II. Almost 3 million refugees have fled Ukraine, the fastest exodus in modern times. The US Congress has remain remarkably unified in its support of Ukraine and Sen. Angus King, the Maine independent. Said there was a ‘collective holding of the breath’ in the room during Zelenskyy's address. Outside the Capitol a group of protesters held a large sign lawmakers saw as they walked back to their offices. “No Fly Zone=World War 3.”

Majority Whip Dick Durbin called the address heartbreaking and pledged to take on any action to stop the aggression on the Ukrainian people. “I'm on board with a blank check on sanctions, just whatever we can do to stop this Russian advance,” he said. The Ukrainian president is no stranger to Congress, having played a central role in Donald Trump's first impeachment. As president, Trump was accused of withholding security aid to Ukraine as he pressured Zelenskyy to dig up dirt on political rival Biden. Zelensky spoke on the giant screen to many of the same Republican lawmakers who declined to impeach or convict Trump, but are among the bipartisan groundswell in Congress now clamoring for military aid to Ukraine.

He thanked the American people saying Ukraine is ‘grateful’ for the outpouring of support, even as he urged Biden to use his office to do more. “You are the leader of the nation. I wish you be the leader of the world," he said “Being the leader of the world means being the leader of peace”.

Invoking Shakespeare's hero last week, Zelenskyy asked the British House of Commons whether Ukraine is ‘to be or not to be’. On Tuesday, he appealed to ‘Dear Justin’ as he addressed the Canadian Parliament and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Zelenskyy called on European Union leaders at the start of the war to do the politically unthinkable and fast-track Ukraine's membership and he has continued to push for more help to save his young democracy than world leaders have so far pledged to do.

To Congress, he drew on U.S. History and the faces of past presidents on Mount Rushmore in telling the lawmakers that people in his country want to live their national dream, just like you have,” he said. “Democracy, independence, freedom”. Biden has insisted there will be no U.S. Troops on the ground in Ukraine and has resisted Zelenskyy's relentless pleas for warplanes as too risky, potentially escalating into a direct confrontation with nuclear-armed Russia.

“Direct conflict between NATO and Russia is World War III,” Biden has said. Zelenskyy appeared to acknowledge the political reality of his request to ‘close the sky’ as he seeks other military aid from the U.S. “Is this to too much to ask to create a no fly zone over Ukraine?” he asked, answering his own question. “If this is too much to ask, we offer an alternative,” calling for weapons systems that would help fight Russian aircraft.

Already the Biden administration has sent Ukraine more than 600 Stinger missiles, 2,600 Javelin anti-armor systems, unmanned aerial system tracking radars; grenade launchers, 200 shotguns, 200 machine guns and nearly 40 million rounds of small arms ammunition, along with helicopters, patrol boats, satellite imagery and body armor, helmets, and other tactical gear, the official said.

This wasn't the first time he Zelenskyy has appealed directly to Congress. Nearly two weeks ago, he delivered a desperate plea to some 300 lawmakers and staff on a private call that if they could not enforce a no-fly zone, at least send more planes. Congress has already approved $13.6 billion in military and humanitarian aid for Ukraine, and the newly announced security aid will come from that allotment, which is part of a broader bill that Biden signed into law Tuesday.
