SELECTION PROCEDURE :
Phase- I : Written Examination -- Combined Duration 3 Hrs. (Combined Objective
& Descriptive Type Tests) -- [Max marks-250 (combined)]
The duration of objective type test will be 2 hours, Max. marks 200 and will consist of :
i) Test of English Language (Grammer, Vocabulary, Comprehension etc.)
ii) Test of General Awareness, Marketing & Computers
iii)Test of Data Analysis & Interpretation
iv) Test of Reasoning (High Level)

The duration of Descriptive type test will be 1 hour, Max. marks-50 and the test will
be of "Test of English Language (Comprehension, short precis, letter writing & essay)"
Descriptive test paper of only those candidates will be evaluated who are adequately
high in percentile ranking in each of all the four objective tests and have scored overall
aggregate 40% and above in case of General category and aggregate 35% and above
in case SC/ST/OBC/PWD category. The qualifying marks for descriptive test will also
be overall aggregate 40% for General category and overall aggregate 35% for SC/
ST/OBC/PWD. The merit list of written examination will be based on the aggregate of
the marks obtained by the candidates in Objective and Descriptive tests.

food, beverages, and/or accommodation services.
This includes: restaurants; pubs, bars and clubs; hotels;
contract catering; hospitality services.The hospitality sector
will always provide scope for career options.These are

Opportunities in restaurants include management and
chef work. Opportunities for business managers, finance
managers and operational staff exist within larger restaurant

The world of fashion offers a plethora of careers within India and abroad as well

For a fashion designer, any given
day involves working on creative
projects, including design
research, design development, colour
development, or producing runway
shows. In this line of work, constant
communication with project collaborators,
fashion students,models, and
advertising agency representatives is
expected, so knowing how to deal
with diverse people is the key. Technical
skills are also essential since
hands-on creative work is integral to
the fashion design process.
While it is an enjoyable and creative
career, working in the fashion
industry requires discipline and the
ability to change directions similar to
other industries, including advertising,
technology or education.
The Indian Apparel industry is one
of the largest foreign exchange earners
with traditional export markets
being the US and EU countries. More
importantly, it is also one of the
largest employment generators for
the youth and the women in the country.
It is estimated that for every Rs.1
crore invested, about 500 direct jobs
and 300 indirect jobs are created and
for every Rs.1 crore apparel exports,
64 direct jobs and 21 allied jobs are
created.
For the 11th Five Year Plan, with
the large scale investments taking
place in the apparel manufacturing
industry, it is estimated that 4.7 million
additional workforce would be required
with about 2 million allied
knowledge professionals. In India, the
domestic industry is growing rapidly
and the textile and apparel domestic
industry contribute US$ 31 billion
while the exports of textile and Apparel
constitute US$ 21 billion.
Today, courses are being specifically
designed to meet the national
talent deficit of trained professionals
for the business of fashion in the apparel,
fashion, retail and lifestyle industries.
There is a huge demand for
managers who can handle fashion
business with a design orientation.
Apparel Merchandising is changing
rapidly and today exporters have
begun to realise more margins for not
only from the product but also from
design and merchandising services.
Here a creative merchandiser's contribution
is vital. Well trained merchandisers
especially on digital platforms
are likely to succeed in the current
scenario.
Students pursuing careers in this
field need to have both right brain and
left brain in a fair balance. In other
words, both creativity and logic needs
to coexist.
Fashion designing sounds like a
dream job but it requires a lot of hard
work. Whether you are interested in
the creative, technical, or business
side of fashion, there is virtually no
end to the exciting career paths
that you can follow in the fashion industry.
The creative side of the fashion
industry offers careers as illustrators,
textile designers, costume designers,
stylists, and other apparel design positions.
Technical opportunities often
come in the form of pattern drafters,
computer-aided drafting and design
technicians, production coordinators,
and more.
In addition, the business side of
fashion could serve up a future as a
fashion merchandiser, marketing executive,
buyer, or trend forecaster.
At the same time, a growing market
for branded ornaments has
sparked off an unprecedented demand
for a new breed of jewellery designers
and other professionals such
as gem appraisers. Added to that, a
string of institutes are offering specialised
courses in the field, turning
jewellery designing into a lucrative
career option.
Computers are being used to create
designs of delicate pieces before being
made in real time. Gold, silver,
diamonds and pearls continue to rule,
but a growing need for ready-to-wear
designer jewellery has spurred the demand
for new material.
A jewellery designer is required
to have a strong background in metallurgy
and gemmology; and a sharp
view of the market trends and good
marketing skills. A jewellery designer
sketches a product offering details
in form and type on paper; makes a
few models and then gets down to
finding the right clientele. Sometimes,
one has to study buyer needs
and fashions in vogue before making
the product to ensure that there's little
resistance by way of choice. The
best way to start is to join as an apprentice
in a jewellery showroom or
in a family business. This will enable
you to obtain a level of specialisation
and the skill to initiate one's own business.
At the entry level, apprentices
usually design products for the mass
market and go on to graduate to making
customised jewellery. If gem appraisal
grabs your fancy, you should
be able to identify and rate a good gem
or stone correctly. This skill is guaranteed
to help one immensely in the
retail business, if inclined.
For a career here, you must be creative
in nature and possess a natural
flair for fashion. This pre-requisite
is one that just can't be learned from
any institute.A finger on the pulse of
the jewellery fashion industry is of
prime importance here.
