His name is included in the well-known crime investigators of the country. She is the first woman forensic scientist of the country. The achievement of being the founder of the first private forensic lab is also recorded in Rukmani's name. Her simplicity inspires women to make a career in this field. Rukmani challenges the male hegemony in the field of forensic investigation. Not only he has achieved a different position in this field. Rather, he has also got the iron of his expertise convinced. His name has been associated with solving many big cases. These include the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack.



Rukmani Krishnamurthy is a well-known name in Indian criminal forensics. He has helped solve many complex cases. These include 1993 Mumbai Bomb Blast, Telgi Stamp Scam, 26/11 Terror Attack, Nagpur Naxalite Murder Case, Kingfisher Airline Scam. Apart from this, he has solved many cases of dowry death, rape and murder.

Crime horoscope has been opening for 50 years...

Rukmani started her career in forensics about 50 years ago. For this he did post graduation in Analytical Chemistry. Then did PhD. In the world of forensics, she gradually climbed up one rung after another. Became the director of the Directorate of Forensic Science Laboratories, Maharashtra. In a conversation with our colleague EconomicTimes.com, Krishnamurthy said that the results of the 1993 blast investigation matched those of Interpol. After retirement from the Government of Maharashtra, he started his own forensic lab. Its name was Hellic Advisory. This was the first such lab in the country. Regarding his move, Krishnamurthy said that government forensic labs only take cases from the police and other investigative agencies. But, she wanted to ensure that companies and individuals can avail forensic services without having to approach the police.

Forensic labs built in many cities of Maharashtra...

While being the director of the Directorate of Forensic Science Laboratories, Rukmani got six world-class forensic labs built in all the cities of Maharashtra from 2002 to 2008. These included Mumbai, Nagpur, Pune, Aurangabad, Nashik and Amravati. These labs had facilities ranging from DNA, cyber forensics, speaker identification to tape authentication, lie detector, narco analysis and brain signature. Its purpose was to prevent the spread of high-tech crime. It was Rukmani who advised TV shows and film producers to stop showing DNA tests and methods of crime investigation. They felt that these were completely misleading and far from the truth. In view of this, the OTT show Sacred Games took him as a forensic advisor for all its crime scenes.

Rukmani Krishnamurthy has a long list of awards...

Rukmani Krishnamurthy's 110 research papers have been published. She has been a member of all Central Forensic Committees. He has been awarded 12 national and international awards in the field of forensics. The government has also given Best Forensic Director and Lifetime Achievement Award. Apart from this, he also established the Corporate Forensic Training Center in Mumbai in collaboration with the National Forensic Science University of the Ministry of Home Affairs. It aims to provide assistance to corporate organizations and SMEs in dealing with domestic threats and internal disputes. Actor-director Harman Baweja has told that he is soon going to make a film on the life of Rukmani Krishnamurthy. Baweja Studio has also got its rights. The script work will be completed in the next few months. Shooting can be started in the last quarter of 2023.
