If you are good at creative storytelling and passionate about movies, a filmmaking course may be ideal for you.
In time, the art of filmmaking has undergone tremendous changes; it has branched into a variety of aspects owing to technology. The process is basically divided into pre-production and post-production.
A slew of Indian institutions offer graduation, post-graduation and diploma courses in filmmaking.
Script writing: This is necessary for the development of a narrative; it forms the framework for the film and includes story research and screenplay writing.

Cinematography:
This is the creation of motion picture, which accommodates aspects like lens adjustment, light and color filtering, depth of field and focus, lighting and camera movement.
Direction: A director is responsible for developing a vision for the film. He decides the tone of the film and the audience it will cater to. He has complete control ‘on the floor’ and outlines the scenes to the cast, finalises the camera angles, coordinates with the actors and ensures discipline.
Editing: Editing is that part of post-production which deals with the removal of unwanted footage, choosing the best footage, creating a flow, adding effects and improving the look of the film. It works in tandem with sound mixing and color correction to make the film look attractive.

Courses:
Bachelors’ programs in the fields of cinematography, direction and editing are offered by institutes such as the Zee Institute of Media Arts and Xavier’s Institute of Communication, whereas diploma and certificate courses for the same are offered by the Film and Television Institute of India, the Framework Academy of Cinema and Television, and the Symbiosis Institute of Design. A course in scriptwriting is offered by the Institute of Creative Excellence.

Salary:
One can expect a starting salary of anywhere between Rs15000 and Rs50000, depending on the terms of the production house one is employed with. The remuneration structure of such a venture is not standardised. But after a few years of experience you could be the king of the film world.
