LEADERSHIP CHALLENGE
Encouraging management students from top business schools to gear up for the challenge of leadership in a fast-changing economic environment, Deloitte has launched the 2013 edition of ‘Campus Maverick’ — a business solution competition. The contest not only tests business acumen of management students, but actually challenges them to rise to a new level of leadership, apply unconventional thinking to solve complex business problems and embrace an inclusive work culture with diverse perspectives and solutions that are cutting-edge and socially responsible. As many as 14,000 students participated in the programme. “In this year’s edition, the programme is focused on building the global leadership competencies required for young professionals to accelerate their careers and be responsible citizens. The business cases participants are required to understand the economy, covering areas like entrepreneurship, corporate environment, risk management, managing demand and supply, among others. The multi-stage format of the competition and the principles of evaluation are inspired by Deloitte’s own focus on client service excellence and leadership development,” said a Deloitte in India spokesperson.
The programme in 2013 has been extended to 60 business schools and has received tremendous response. In the first round more than 2,500 teams of three members worked on a common business challenge and presented their recommendations. In India, about 50 teams qualified for the four regional rounds, which were held at four leading campuses, across the four regions, in New Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai and Hyderabad. The top teams from each of the four regions have qualified for the grand finale, which will be held at Deloitte’s premises on September 20.
