The Institute of Public Enterprise (IPE), Hyderabad, set up in 1964 and operating under the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, has created a niche for itself in management education supported largely by research, consultancy, management development and training, and interaction with policy makers in India and abroad.
IPE has a strong base in favour of industry-academia interaction. IPE’s specialized research centres on corporate governance, corporate social responsibility, sustainable development, public policy, energy, and regulation generate valuable inputs to expose the students into the frontier areas of knowledge. Appreciating the need for customizing post graduate management education, the institute has a very favourable student-teacher ratio based on full time faculty, visiting faculty and adjunct faculty drawn from government, industry and abroad.
Mentoring and case studies are considered a strong pedagogical method. Faculty, with industry experience and higher education abroad with outstanding publications, is involved in mentoring. Placements are a strong specialty of the Institute as the Institute acts as a bridge between the industry and students. The institute’s knowledge centre caters to the academic needs of the students through connecting them to online databases, and physical copies of the Indian and international journals. The institute has a sprawling GRIHA and LEED certified campus of 22 acres with an academic block, separate hostels for boys and girls, food court, and sports facilities.
Applicants with good scores in the tests prescribed by the AICTE, qualify for admissions to its various PGDM programmes.
IPE also considers children of Gulf workers and foreign nationals for admission in PGDM program under a special quota approved by AICTE. The Institute’s Board of Governors is composed of eminent administrators, researchers, academicians, and captains of industry in public and private sectors.
