TYBCom re-exam: 2 students move HC

Two third-year commerce students have moved the Bombay high court challenging the University of Mumbai’s decision to conduct re-examination of one subject, the question paper of which leaked a day before the exam.
The petitioners Jayprakash Agarwal and Chetankumar Sharma claimed that the re-examination will inconvenience more than 70,000 students in the city.
The examination for Marketing and Human Research Management (MHRM) was to be conducted on March 28, but 40 students at BNN College in Bhiwandi got their hands on the questions the previous day. The college claimed that it had accidentally distributed the MHRM question paper among the students instead of the Business Economics paper.
Six questions, which carried a total of 45 marks, circulated among the students, including via text messages.
Initially, the university denied the paper leak, but subsequently accepted the goof-up. The university then announced that the MHRM paper re-examination would be conducted on April 11.
The petition states: “The MHRM question paper was leaked only to 40 students in Bhiwandi. No other student got the question paper. Hence, there is no need for re-examination.” The HC will hear the petition on Wednesday.
